1. Artworks From Swiss and Italian Border Tours

1.1 San Mamet (2006) 20x24in, 51x61cm, oil on canvas

Rose and Salman spent many happy holidays at San Mamet, one of their favourite holiday

destinations.

    2. Artworks From Venetian Tours

    2.1 Connection (2013) 5.5x7.5in, 14x19cm, acrylic on canvas

Painted on her last trip to Venice in 2013, this was one of few sketches and paintings which Rose completed using acrylics. One of my favourites of her paintings, this small work was exhibited at her last RSM art exhibition in 2019 and she won the first prize. I liked it so much that I bought it before the results were announced.

      3. Artworks Related To Boats and Seascapes

      3.1 A Good Catch (2008) 46x56in, 18x22cm, acrylic on canvas

This was one of the many boat paintings with which Rose began her career as an artist. She painted

different styles of boats using a variety of techniques. This painting was of fishing boats in a Cornish harbour, painted four years after she retired from her work at the BBC. It's possible that she painted this harbour scene en plein air when she visited Cornwall in 2008.

        4. Works From Bristol

4.1 University of Bristol (2009) 7x10in, 18x25cm, pen and ink sketch

2009 was a busy year for Rose, and she visited Bristol in November and did this sketch of the Wills Memorial Building or Tower, which many regard as synonymous with the University of Bristol. The centrepiece building of the university precinct is used for degree ceremonies and examinations, which take place in its Great Hall. It is considered to be one of England's last great Gothic buildings.

          5. Aung San Su Kyi

5.1 Aung San Su Kyi (2014) 21x17.Sin, 54x44cm, oil on canvas

This portrait of Aung San Su Kyi was commissioned by Dr Patrick and Ann Marie Xaiver, who were close friends of Rose's. She hadn't done many portraits previously but was keen to accept their commission. She worked hard to get the likeness and it turned out to be one of her best works on Aung San Su Kyi.

            6. City of London Cityscapes

6.1 View across the Thames (2013) 15.75x19.5in, 38x49.5cm, mixed media

Rose had started experimenting with papier mache, a technique her sister, Khin Myint Myint, had

been using, to provide texture effectively. Rose loved London and she was certainly a downtown girl. She would

miss her beloved city after only a few days when she came to stay with us in the quiet suburbs of Wirral for Christmas or for any of her small holiday breaks away from the burdens of looking after Salman.

              7. Miscellaneous Works

              7.1 Untitled (2008) 18x22in, 46x56cm, collage and mixed media

This was an emotional painting, produced after Rose's breast cancer diagnosis in 2008. She poured out her emotions and fears in this work. It probably represents a

small cancerous growth in her breast. She painted three pink ribbons and stuck on a real one to give her hope of recovery, acutely aware of her uncertain future when faced with the diagnosis

of cancer. Fortified by her strong faith, Rose got over the cancer scare unscathed.
